What To Do 

From grand opening events to movies on the lawn and history projects to meteor showers, there’s something for all to do in Sweet Baton Rouge this month!

Perseid Meteor Shower – Head over to Highland Road Park Observatory on August 12 for one of the major meteor showers of the year – The Perseids! We promise you’ll see a light show like no other, just make sure to check in at the observatory first for directions.

Boards & Brush’s Grand Opening – Check out Baton Rouge’s newest instructionally led DIY workshops at Boards & Brush! Attend their Grand Opening event on Wednesday, August 14 for a chance to win FREE workshops, plus the first 40 people will receive gift bags!

Coastal Voices – Stories of Resiliency – Join LSU Associate Professor,Michael Pasquier, at LSU Science Cafe on August 27 to learn about the oral history project, Coastal Voices, he and his students have embarked upon to capture the stories of Louisiana resilience. Tunes & Trucks – Tempt your tastebuds at Perkins Rowe’s monthly Tunes & Trucks event on August 30 featuring Ole Mississippi Smokehouse and Catering, Rouge-A-Roux’s, Curbside & Sneaux Angels Sneauxballs! There will also be live music by Chaislyn Jane Music. *

BRG’s Movies & Music on the Lawn – Whether you’re looking for a date night that’s a little different or an affordable family outing, you can’t go wrong with Movies & Music on the Lawn! Head over to Baton Rouge Gallery on August 30 for Kid’s Night as young musicians from Baton Rouge Music Studios perform their original score for Alice in Wonderland!

Where To Go 

There’s plenty to see in the Capital City this month! With Fall right around the corner, that can only mean one thing… LSU Football is back, Theatre Baton Rouge is kicking off a new season, and we’re hosting our quarterly Girls’ Night Out!

Theatre Baton Rouge – Head over to Theatre Baton Rouge to see their performance of Andrew Lippa’s Wild Party August 16 thru August 25! It’s a steam prohibition tale, steamrolling and roaring its way across the stage that generated an array of industry accolades. You don’t want to miss it!

White Star Market’s Farmer’s Market – Brave the heat and check out White Star Market’s monthly farmer’s market on August 25th! Check out their Facebook page for a full line-up of participating vendors.

 

Sweet Baton Rouge’s Girls’ Night Out – Grab your besties, your coworkers and your mama and join us for our quarterly Girls’ Night Out event on August 29 from 5:00 – 8:00pm! There’ll be sips, snacks and a fully stocked Gameday Collection and more for you to shop!
