Shelby here, one of your Sweet Baton Rouge Insiders, and I work for Sweet Baton Rouge, Like many LSU students, I am quarantining at home with my parents. As crazy as it is to go from living on your own to being back in your high school bedroom, I love that my mom and I get to spend some quality time together.
One thing we do every day is go on a walk in the neighborhood. My mom, Robin, is a #bosslady. She’s been “slowing it down” for me and going on 3 mile walks instead of her usual 10+ mile workout. I usually follow a few of my favorite LSU UREC classes for an extra workout, but my mom does BeachBody workouts and 21 Day Fixe like it’s no big deal.
When Don’t Stop Just Geaux had a 10 Day Faith + Fitness Challenge, we participated! I figured, why stop there? So, mom and I picked one of the workouts on the Don’t Stop Just Geaux YouTube channel and wanted to share with you our experience.
Robin: I love to wake up and get my workout done first thing so that I can start my day on the right foot. I usually do a BeachBody workout program and I’ve been sprinkling in the Don’t Stop Just Geaux for a little extra calorie burn and endorphin boost. I especially love it when I have a workout partner to keep me accountable and make working out a little more fun. I strive to workout every day to stay in shape for myself and to set a good example for my children, so the DSJG YouTube is a fun place to find new workouts. I injured my foot last year, so I tend to do more of a low impact workout. Based on how I’m feeling in the morning, I might workout harder or take it easier, and Meredith’s videos are nice because they are adaptable. Now that I’ve discovered Don’t Stop Just Geaux, I am definitely adding it to my routine!
Shelby: We took a timelapse of our workout, and I laugh at how many times I yawn in it! I had seriously just gotten out of bed, and this workout was perfect to wake me up and get my blood pumping. We both opted for the low impact option, but if I had been a little more awake then the jump lunges would have been awesome to burn a few more calories. I had a busy day of Zoom conferences and Presentations lined up, so I was hoping for some endorphins to help my day get started right. We chose a shorter 5-minute video, and it was perfect. I was moving enough to be up and energized and not too tired to go on with my day. For today, I liked how short the workout was, but on a less busy day, I probably would have gone back and done the same moves 2 or 3 times. Overall, the DSJG workouts are a great way to get moving because, for me, it’s a lot easier to stay moving once I start.
So, if you’re looking to start working out or to add more to your current routine, I completely stand behind the Don’t Stop Just Geaux workouts. You can find them on YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram, and they’re perfect whether you are just starting out or you have been active for years!
