What To Do 

The *ONLY* thing we all should be doing is cheering on our fighting Tigers as they take on Clemson in the National Championship on January 13!! But if you need a few more ideas, we’ve rounded up a couple of other options for y’all too!

LSU v. Clemson National Championship Watch Party – No matter where you go, all eyes are going to be on our home team Monday, January 13 as we take on Clemson in the National Championship!! We all know who the real Tigers are!

Where To Go 

January is all about family-friendly activities to help get you and your kiddos out and about! Head over to BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo or Farr Park for outdoor adventures or test your knowledge at Astronomy on Tap… Either way, we’re sure you’ll enjoy it! 

Zoo & Me Morning: Paws & Claws – Head over to BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo the second Tuesday of every month for programs designed for your 3 to 5 year old kiddos! All programs are from 9:30 – 11:30am and require registration. They’ll be train rides, animal encounters, art projects, “Zooper” snacks and so much more! 

Astronomy On Tap @ Varsity Theatre – Our motto is “Science is always better with beer” so come join us on Wednesday, January 15 for Astronomy On Tap led by two LSU graduate students! As always, there will be raffles, swag and spaced-themed drinks for all to enjoy! This event is free to the public and kid-friendly. 

MMM January 2020 Market – New year, new market! Join Mid City Makers on Saturday, January 18 for their first ever January Market. Come out and celebrate 2020 with the whole family! There will be live music, food, a bar, and lots of talented makers in store!

What To Eat 

The Capital City is here to play this month! From margarita and mimosa crawls to food trucks, there’s always a culinary event happening around town to tempt your tastebuds! 

Cousins Maine Lobster @ Tin Roof Brewing Co – Shark Tank’s Cousins Maine Lobster food truck is making a stop in Baton Rouge! Head over to Tin Roof Brewing Company on Wednesday January 22 from 4-9pm to enjoy a taste of Maine with their famous Lobster Rolls, Lobster Grilled Cheese and more…

Margarita Crawl Baton Rouge – Join Bar Crawl Unlimited on January 25 for a margarita crawl around Downtown Baton Rouge! Sip on the best margs the Capital City has to offer from participating venues like Happy’s Irish Pub, Bengal Taproom, Boudreaux & Thibodeaux’s, The Register Bar, Jolie Pearl and more! All taking place from 2-8pm beginning at Happy’s!

Don’t Stop Just Geaux 

Whether you’re looking for a local class to try or would rather work out at home, we have you covered on ways to Don’t Stop Just Geaux all month long! 

FREE Community Yoga Classes @ Pointe Marie – Head over to Pointe Marie each Thursday at 6:30pm for a FREE community yoga class! All you need is your mat, a water bottle and a few friends to workout with!

Guided Trail Rides @ BREC’s Farr Park – Guided trail rides are available on select Saturdays and Sundays including Sunday, January 12. Enjoy a one-hour gentle ride through the park on one of our horses. No experience required and $30 registration fee. 

2020 Louisiana Marathon Weekend – Lace up those tennis shoes and join locals and visitors alike for the annual Louisiana Marathon Weekend on January 18-19! Whether you prefer a 5K or a full marathon, there’s a distance for all to enjoy!
