What To Do
Celebrate all things Halloween-themed in the Capital City with some tricks and lots of treats! From haunted houses to corn mazes, there’s tons of spooky fun for the whole family!
Boo at the Zoo – Everyone’s favorite merry-not-scary event returns to the Zoo this fall! Grab the kiddos and get ready for a trick-or-treating extravaganza, Hay Maze ride, Enchanted Swamp tour and more! Regular Zoo admission applies.
LSU AgCenter’s Corn Maze – The LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens’ Corn Maze is a family friendly day of fall fun with numerous farm related activities! Join the crazy-mazy fun every Saturday in October with hayrides, zip lining, face painting, Bayou Goula’s Petting Zoo, pumpkin decorating and more!
Rougarou Fest – This FREE family-friendly festival with a spooky flair will take place October 26-27. It celebrates the rich folklore that exists along the bayous of Southeast Louisiana. There’ll be live music, cultural activities, children’s activities, the Krewe Ga Rou parade, and so much more! All proceeds go to the South Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center.
Where To Go
From exciting tales of witchcraft to nights at the zoo, there’s tons to see and do this month in our Sweet Baton Rouge! We’ve rounded up a list of our favorite places to go for y’all!
Theatre Baton Rouge Presents The Crucible – A historical tale filled with exciting drama of witchcraft makes its way to the Capital City this month! Head over to Theatre Baton Rouge until October 6 to see their version of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible.
Brew at the Zoo – Join BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo for the 6th Annual Brew at the Zoo Friday, October 4! Guests are invited to the Zoo for an evening of food sampling, beer tasting, live music and much more!
HollyDays Market – Shop until you drop at the Junior League of Baton Rouge’s Annual HollyDays Market from October 16-19! It’s sure to put you in the holiday spirit!
What To Eat
Louisiana is known for its festivals, and this month is no exception!! Grab your eating pants and get ready for a month filled with beignets, macaroni, pancakes and more!
Beignet Fest – Curb your cravings with +30 different kinds of beignets at the Annual Beignet Fest on October 5! There will be live music, a Beer Garden, Artist Market, Kids’ Village and more!
Nola Mac N Cheese Fest – Say “Cheese!” because Nola’s 3rd Annual Mac N Cheese Fest is back!! Come tempt your taste buds with the best mac n cheese the city has to offer all while listening to live music and strolling the local arts market on Saturday, October 12.
Kiwanis 70th Annual Pancake Festival – Carb up for a good cause with all you can eat pancakes at the Kiwanis 70th Annual Pancake Festival on Saturday, October 19! All proceeds are directly reinvested into local community programs and youth support.
Chick-Fil-A “Office Trivia Night” – Eat more chicken and test your Office trivia skills at Mall of Louisiana’s Chick-fil-A location on October 22! Alzheimer’s Services Walk to Remember – Join Alzheimer’s Services for the 25th Annual Walk/Run to Remember on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at LSU’s “Old Front Nine.” Over 5,000 participants will join the fun, many of whom are walking in honor or in memory of a loved one who has been affected with Alzheimer’s disease.
Tour de Jefferson – Tour de Jefferson is a social ride for cycling enthusiasts of all levels through Jefferson Parish on Sunday, October 20! Riders can choose from a 15, 31 or 62 mile route and end at the LiveWell Fin du Tour Party in Parc Des Familles!

Local Spotlight: Guarantee Maid Services
Guarantee Maid Services is a locally-owned cleaning service dedicated to “Cleaning for a Reason!” Through these philanthropic efforts, Guarantee Maid Services will donate their time and services for patients undergoing cancer treatment. They will clean their house once a month for four months for FREE!
